The injection-molding presses were 250 ton in size, and they were equipped with 63 mm diameter, 22 L/D plasticators. The screws were all identical and were conventional, single-flighted designs, and they had spiral dams positioned in the last... [Pg.530]

A typical schematic diagram of a rotary dryer is shown in Fig. 12-58, while Fig. 12-59 shows typical lifting flight designs. [Pg.1393]

In general a mass spectrometer consists of an ion source, a mass-selective analyzer, and an ion detector. Since mass spectrometers create and manipulate gas-phase ions, they operate in a high vacuum system. The magnetic-sector, quadrupole, and time-of-flight designs also require extraction and acceleration ion optics to transfer ions from the source region into the mass analyzer. Tables 2 and 3 provide brief descriptions of the most commonly used ionization techniques and the different types of mass spectrometers available, respectively [163,232-235,241,242,244-246]. [Pg.349]

The extruder screw for rubber often has constant depth and variable decreasing pitch (VDP) many rubber screws use a double-flighted design see Fig. 2.3. Screws for thermoplastics usually have a decreasing depth and constant pitch see Fig. 2.1. [Pg.20]

The large number of conveyor variants arise from the permutation of the different hubs, flight design, feed and floe zone types, and the different types and degrees of hard surfacing. Devices added to the conveyor, and the type of flow, two-phase, three-phase (see Section 2.4.1.2). co-current or countercurrent, add to the permutations. [Pg.65]

Nonetheless, electrostatic energy analyzers have played a significant role in time-of-flight design. One approach, exemplified by the ETOF mass spectrometer developed at... [Pg.66]

Electric sectors have not enjoyed anywhere near the same popularity as reflectrons in time-of-flight design. Isochronous systems, particularly those involving multiple sectors, are more difficult to design. In addition, reflectron instruments provide an important opportunity for recording the structural information provide by postsource decay, which is now being utilized for the amino acid sequencing of peptides. [Pg.67]

Figure 11.8 General layout of the MuCell screw, showing location of the SCF injector, middle check valve and the mixing area. The metering area, directly below the injector actually has a different (proprietary) screw flight design than shown, as it is designed to wipe SCF from the injector and advance it forward into the mixing zone.
