Flesh melting

Nickel sulfide concentrates can be treated by flesh melting (see Chapter 31 Nickel) to give a matte with for instance 10% Ni, 2% Cu, 0.4% Co, 33% Fe, 30% S. In the Sher-rit-Gordon process (Canada) the matte is leached with ammonia in autoclaves at high temperature and under a pressure of oxygen. This converts the sulfides to sulfates... 

My scared face in the mirror blurred and melted into a reddish globe, which shrank back and resolved as the iris of an eye. The initially produced coconut oil is actually a white solid highly saturated fat with a characteristic odour. It is extracted by either cold pressing or solvent extraction of the coconut flesh. This fat has a melting point of 25 °C and is reasonably stable to oxidation when exposed to the air. Chemically it is very high in saturated fats, typically up to 85%. 

MURIA — Salt Liquor, has the efficacy of Salt and Marine Water. There are two kinds — native, whence comes our ordinary salt manufactured, when a little salt is mixed with rain from heaven. When the salt liquefies, we call it light salt when it does not melt we call it hard salt. Note that garum is a salt liquor in which flesh and fish have been pickled. There is also sour brine, produced from vinegar and sea water. Pliny apppears to confound salt brine with garum. 

Named for the excessive urination in the disease. Aretaeus, a Cappadocian physician of the second century a.d., wrote "The epithet diabetes has been assigned to the disorder, being something like passing of water by a siphon." He perceptively characterized diabetes as "being a melting-down of the flesh and limbs into urine."... 

The free hydrochloride melts ith decomposition at 172 C., and its platinichloride crystallises in flesh-coloured needles, M.pt. 220° C. The corresponding dtethyltolylbetaine is hygroscopic its hydrochloi ide melts at 96° C, and the platinichloi ide at i57° C. 

Melting point of a-isomer 47 " C. Flesh point and data on fire and ex sion hazards refer to technical grad. Pure substance has a flash point of 40 C and is thus much less of afire hazard. Before distilling check for peroxides if found, render harmless. Insufficient toxicologioal data on harmful effects to humar>s.
