Most cases of fire hazard involve flammable liqnids. A flammable liquid does not bum itself. It is the vapors from the liquid that bum. Thus, the flammability of a liquid depends on the degree to which the liqnid forms flammable vapors in other words, its vapor pressnre. The molecules in the interior of the liqnid are bound strongly by the molecnlar force of attraction, which is less for snrface molecnles. Evaporation occurs from the surface.
