Sastry et al. [50] estimated primaquine in its tablet formulation. Powdered tablets equivalent to 100 mg of primaquine phosphate were dissolved in water, filtered, and filtrate was diluted to 100 mL with water. Portions of the solution were shaken with 3 mL of 5 mM brucine-0.16 M sulfuric acid, 1.5 mL of 5 mM sodium periodate and 2 mL of 1.2 M sulfuric acid and diluted to 9 mL with water. The solution was set aside for 20 min in a boiling water bath, cooled, and diluted to 10 mL with water. The absorbance was measured at 510 nm versus a reagent blank. Beer s law was obeyed from 20 to 140 pg/mL of primaquine phosphate. The coefficient of variation was 1.56% (n = 8). Recovery was 99.2%.

To the solution of 6a-methyl-4-pregnen-17a-ol-20-one-3-thioacetal (2 g) in 95% ethanol (200 ml) Ni (Renney) (50 g) was added and mixed at heating. Then reaction mixture was cooled to room temperature. The mixture was filtered, and filtrate was evaporated, obtaining residue was crystallisated from methanol with dichloromethane and in the result 6a-methyl-4-pregnen-17a-ol-20-one (0.95 g) was produced, melting point 190°-193°C.

The worldwide economic impact of undesirable cyanobacterial blooms in municipal water systems is unknown. Increased costs can occur due to increased amounts of activated carbon used in water treatment facilities to counteract higher levels of off-flavor compounds in the water. In addition, filters and filtration equipment can become clogged with certain types of filamentous cyanobacteria and result in significant down time to correct these problems. Certain species of cyanobacteria (e.g., Lyngbya wollei)... 

The product was extracted with dichloromethane, washed with brine, dried over MgS04, filtered and filtrate evaporated. From the cmde product, 200 mg (83%) of pure 2,4,6-trimethyl-2 -nitrobiphenyl (358) was isolated by preparative chromatography yellowish crystals, m.p. 47 C.
