Essential and known to everyone is bonding for the laying of floors. Therefore, a number of different types of adhesives are available that set physically or cure chemically. To lay ceramic tiles, about 90% disperse and reactive resin adhesive or cement-based mortar is used. These products contain binder cement as main part, sand as a filler, flexible plastic powder to improve adhesion, and special additives such as defoamers, wetting agents, and thickeners. [Pg.1265]

Fillers (qv) are occasionally used in flexible slab foams the two most commonly used are calcium carbonate (whiting) and barium sulfate (barytes). Their use level may range up to 150 parts per 100 parts of polyol. Various other ingredients may also be used to modify a flexible foam formulation. Specific terms have been designated according to the function and composition of various roUs. Steel roUs that impose pressure, transmit heat, and emboss a pattern onto the fabric are known as pattern roUs. Flexible surface roUs that transport the fabric and permit pressure transmission to the fabric are termed bowl roUs or bowls. Bowl roUs are usually larger in diameter than pattern roUs. The material used to make these types of roUs is chosen according to the depth of surface smoothness to be placed on the fabric being calendered, and must be compatible with the pattern roU. Cellulose pulp, cotton, wool, cotton—wool mixtures, com husk, and various polymer materials are used as fillers for the roU surface compound. [Pg.156]
