FIBROUS MATERIALS CELLULOSE AND ASBESTOS

Fibrous materials found in bottled wines are usually cellulosic in nature, originating from the filter pad matrix or from case lint that may find itself in bottles prior to filling. 

Bright field microscope and several slides and cover slips. 

Iodine Solution dissolve 10 g KI and 4 g I2 in deionized water and bring the solution to 100 mL final volume. 

Cellulose Stain Into 100 mL of deionized water, dissolve 200 g zinc chloride. Add 20 mL of above-described iodine solution. 

Collect by membrane filtration a portion of the wine containing the sediment onto two separate membranes.
