The aim of confinement is to increase the axial loading capacity and/or to increase the compression strain of the concrete (see Fig. 4.22), which

The main difference in the design of FRP compared to conventional internal stirrups and external jackets made of steel is the absence of a yield plateau in the case of FRPs, and therefore not a constant confinement pressure on the strengthened member.
