However, this type of search proved not reliable. In reading the abstract of a paper by Willy Ruckdeschel (36) of the Laboratory of Fermentation Chemistry, Royal Technical College (Koenigliche Technische Hochschule) at Munich I found the words Maillard s reaction in CA more than three times. The original paper by Ruckdeschel (1914) (36) contained the words "die Reaktion Maillards" first and then the words "die Maillardsche Reaktion" four times. Hence, he may be called one of the first namers of this reaction.
