Fatigue testing fracture standards

Static fatigue tests were performed in air at elevated temperatures of 1373 K using a hydraulically controlled testing machine with an electric furnace and terminated in 100 h according to the Japan Industrial Standard (JIS R1632) The applied stress (Oq>p) at which the specimen did not fracture within 3.6 x 10 sec (100 h) was defined as the static fatigue limit (Oto) in this study. [Pg.47]

This work has been supported by METI, Japan, as part of the international standardization project of test methods for rolling contact fatigue and fracture resistance of ceramics for ball bearings. [Pg.98]

Service lifetime prediction of polymers and/or polymer based materials may be undertaken from different types of tests, such as creep behavior tests (linear and non-linear creep, physical aging, time-dependent plasticity), fatigue behavior tests (stress transfer and normalized life prediction models, empirical fatigue theories, fracture mechanics theory and strength degradation) and standard accelerated aging tests (chemical resistance, thermal stability, liquid absorption) [32]. [Pg.228]

There are many testing or standards agencies that have standards concerning fatigue and fracture. Some of them include the following ... [Pg.12]

Fracture mechanics can be applied to this problem, much as it is to fatigue. We use only the final result, as follows. If the standard test which was used to measure (Tts takes a time f(test), then the stress which the sample will support safely for a time t is... [Pg.189]
