FaCT project

The authors appreciate the financial support from the EPSRC granted Gas - Future Advanced Capture Technology Systems (Gas-FACTS) project EP/J020788/1 and Innovative Gas Separations for Carbon Capture (IGSCC) project EP/G062129/1. [Pg.10]

The consequence is that there is no fit of projects in terms of reaching the destination shown in Figure 13.1. In fact, projects form out of a haphazard process, have no strategic contribution whatsoever, and shoufd be discontinued. In general, a strategic project will implement the vision and alter in some way the competitive landscape. This is different from projects that keep the company in the game but do not affect the competitive balance. [Pg.170]

To solve the BSE for finite systems, all the equations are projected onto an orthonormal spin-orbital basis ( )p. As the equations are four-point equations relating two-particle quantities, they are in fact projected onto the basis of products of two spin orbitals. Each matrix element is thus indexed by two double indices. [Pg.375]

Which have been accomplished by Figure 3.7, in fact projected, is just the crystallographic a-direction, along which crystallographic planes with inter-planar distances are recorded through reciprocally projected on 0P=a direction thus called as reciprocal crystallographic direction along which reciprocal distances R are projected, with modulus of reciprocal vectors d" ha (/ = ,2,3,...). [Pg.278]

In 2010, at the end of Phase I of the FaCT project, technical assessments on the achievement of the development targets and feasibility of the innovative technologies were made. The purpose of this assessment was to evaluate the degree of achievement at that time in the midterm stage until 2015, to affirm the validity of the direction of R D, and to identify technical challenges toward future R Ds. As a result of the assessments, it was revealed that the development targets were mostly achieved, and some challenges that may indicate the direction of future R D were identified (Chikazawa et al., 2015). [Pg.284]

There can be an element of maintenance costs that is fixed and an element which is variable. Fixed maintenance costs cover routine maintenance such as regular maintenance on safety valves which must be carried out irrespective of the rate of production. There also can be an element of maintenance costs which is variable. This arises from the fact that certain items of equipment can need more maintenance as the production rate increases. Also, royalties which cover the cost of purchasing another company s process technology may have different bases. Royalties may be a variable cost, since they can sometimes be paid in proportion to the rate of production. Alternatively, the royalty might be a single-sum payment at the beginning of the project. In this case, the single-sum payment will become part of the project s capital investment. As such, it will be included in the annual capital repayment, and this becomes part of the fixed cost. [Pg.406]

Another option is a q,p) = p and b q,p) = VU q). This guarantees that we are discretizing a pure index-2 DAE for which A is well-defined. But for this choice we observed severe difficulties with Newton s method, where a step-size smaller even than what is required by explicit methods is needed to obtain convergence. In fact, it can be shown that when the linear harmonic oscillator is cast into such a projected DAE, the linearized problem can easily become unstable for k > . Another way is to check the conditions of the Newton-Kantorovich Theorem, which guarantees convergence of the Newton method. These conditions are also found to be satisfied only for a very small step size k, if is small. [Pg.285]

In this section we derive a nonpenetration condition between crack faces for inclined cracks in plates and discuss the equilibrium problem. As it turns out, the nonpenetration condition for inclined cracks is of nonlocal character. This means that by writing the condition at a fixed point we have to take into account the displacement values both at the point and at the other point chosen at the opposite crack face. As a corollary of this fact, the equilibrium equations hold only in a domain located outside the crack surface projection on the mid-surface of the plate. This section follows the papers (Khludnev, 1997b Kovtunenko et ah, 1998). [Pg.219]

The current and projected HDPE capacities are shown in Table 3, and producers of resins in Table 4. In most cases, an accurate estimation of the total HDPE volume is compHcated by the fact that a large number of plants also use the same reactors for manufacture of HDPE or LLDPE. UHMWPE is produced in the United States (Himont and American Hoechst), in Japan (Asahi), and in Germany (Hoechst) worldwide capacity is approximately 45,000 tons. The use of post-consumer (recycled) HDPE is gradually increasing in volume. The growth of recycling programs is driven principally by economics (110,114) it has increased from a mere 60,000 tons in 1989 to 350,000 tons in 1994 and is expected to increase to 1.4 million t in the year 2000 (115). [Pg.388]
