External extraction structure

To create our terminology containing both internal terms and external terms we semiautomatically extract terms from available external resources (e.g., MeSH, EMTREE, UniProt). Then we fit the extracted terms to our data structure and preserve the reference to the source system because sometimes terms are very specific to certain databases. We refer to the terms specific to a database as local terms. These local terms are stored in a dedicated data structure, the Metastore. It must be noted that we refer to accession codes and identifiers used in databases such as UniProt, RefSeq, and GO as local terms (see Tables 31.1 and 31.2). [Pg.733]

Identify and extract chemical compounds from the text, transform them into structures and ask an external application to compute their chemical properties and toxicology alerts, and annotate the documents with these results. The added information might then be used for further analysis of the data set. [Pg.751]

To study the promotion mechanism of Pt wire/FSM-16 in the PROX reaction, the Pt nanowires were extracted by HF/EtOH treatment from FSM-16, and the wires were again deposited on the external surface of FSM-16 from the ethanol solution. We found that the resulting external Pt wire/FSM-16 catalyst gave low TOFs (>35) and lower CO selectivity (>30%) in the PROX reaction [32]. This implies that the encapsulation of Pt wires in the silica channels of FSM-16 is a key to promote the selective CO oxidation in the PROX reaction. Furthermore, from the structural characterization by XANES, XPS and IR in CO chemisorption... [Pg.625]

In this section, two types of structure-metal binding ability relationships will be described. The first one concerns empirical linear correlations between equilibrium constants of complexation or extraction and some descriptors. In most cases, these correlations are obtained for relatively small datasets (less than 20 molecules) without any validation. We do not intend to analyze them in detail only their general characteristics will be reported. The second type of relationships were obtained in regular QSPR studies involving the selection of pertinent descriptors from their large initial pools, and the stage of the models, validation on external test set(s). [Pg.329]

The use of optical methods to study the dynamics and structure of complex polymeric and colloidal liquids subject to external fields has a long history. The choice of an optical technique is normally motivated by the microstructural information it provides, its sensitivity, and dynamic range. A successful application of an optical measurement, however, will depend on many factors. First, the type of interaction of light with matter must be correctly chosen so that the desired microstructural information of a sample can be extracted. Once selected, the arrangement of optical elements required to perform the required measurement must be designed. This involves not only the selection of the elements themselves, but also their alignment. Finally, a proper interpretation of the observables will depend on one s ability to connect the measurement to the sample s microstructure. [Pg.276]

Although internal standard calibration compensates for some errors in external standard quantitation, there are several difficulties in method development. First, choosing an appropriate internal standard can often be difficult, as this compound must be available in extremely pure form and it must never appear in the samples of interest. Second, it cannot interfere in either the extraction or the chromatography of the analytes. Finally, it must be structurally similar to the analytes, so that it undergoes similar extraction and chromatography, otherwise, the compensation will be lost. [Pg.192]
