Despite the obvious merit of this conventional wisdom, selectivity wild cards often prove essential, and there is real value in developing a repertoire of special weapons and tactics. Even though there is no way to predict which, if any, will produce the effect you seek, the options are limited, well defined, and the investment of resources reasonably modest. By the time you get to the point of evaluating wild cards, you will probably be sufficiently familiar with your analytical system to discern a useful result from a chromatogram without extensive secondary testing. The principal investment will be buffer preparation and the time to run the analyses. 

One way authors stress importance as they share background information is to document widespread interest in the research area (i.e., if others studied it, it must be important). Slightly different tactics are used depending on how new the research area is. If the field is already well established, phrases such as longterm interest, renewed interest, extensively studied, or for decades, chemists have studied are commonly employed. If the field is relatively new, such phrases as emerging interest, increased attention, previously unstudied, promising new approach, unexplored area, or an area of mounting concern are more appropriate. 

In an extension of the work to chiral chemistry 244), the imidazolium cation of the ionic liquid was modified to carry a chiral substituent. The high cost of the chiral cation could be justified as the chiral ionic liquid, [MBMIM ] , can be reused. In the ATRP of soluble methyl acrylate, a small effect of the chiral ionic liquid on the polymer tacticity was observed. The use of a chiral ionic liquid as a solvent could lead to applications in other areas of catalysis. The synthesis of imidazolium-containing ionic liquids functionalized with chiral natural amino acids has already been reported 245), as have less expensive chiral ionic liquids(2- (5).

From a study of the aromatic Cl resonances, Matsuzaki and coworkers found 234) that there is a tendency towards syndiotacticity when using -butyl-Iithium in toluene as initiator. From the sensitivity of the CMR spectrum to the nature of the solvent employed it was concluded that the polymerization did not conform to Bernoullian statistics. Randall examined the methylene resonances in the CMR spectrum and concluded that butyllithium initiated polystyrene is essentially atactic 235) and that propagation is Bernouillian. Uryu et al.236) examined polystyrene... 

Fortunately, much work has still to be developed, and especially a better knowledge of the synthesis of tailor-made polymers with well-defined architecture in order to improve the properties by a better control of the regioselectivity and of the tacticity. Even if much work on the reactivity has been extensively carried out by Tedder and Walton, methods are searched for a better orientation of the sense of addition, since most fluoroalkenes are unsymmetrical. 

Iraq Had extensive programme before the Gulf War under which it produced and stockpiled mustard gas, sarin, tabun and VX. Delivered chemical agents against Iranian forces during Iran-Iraq War using aerial bombs, artillery, rocket launchers, tactical rockets and helicopter-mounted sprayers. Also used chemical weapons against own Kurdish population in 1988.
