Extenders advantages/disadvantages

CVD reactors can have one of several configurations. Each has particular advantages and disadvantages. Reactors that support wafers horizontally have difficulty controlling the deposition uniformity over all the exposed wafers. Reactors having vertical wafer support produce uniform deposition, but are mechanically complex. Barrel reactors are not suited for extended operation at temperatures greater than 1200°C. 

Since the development of the Spansule brand (Smith Kline Beech am) of coated beads and granules in the late 1960s, various dmg product technologies have been developed and patented to achieve extended durations of therapeutic effects. Each of these does so by various mechanisms of control of dmg release from adrninistered dosage forms. Each method has its advantages and disadvantages, a discussion of which is available in the pharmaceutical hterature (see Drug delivery systems) (21). 

Renal replacement therapy (RRT), such as hemodialysis and peritoneal dialysis, maintains fluid and electrolyte balance while removing waste products. See Table 75-4 for indications for RRT in ARF. Intermittent and continuous options have different advantages (and disadvantages) but, after correcting for severity of illness, have similar outcomes. Consequently, hybrid approaches (e.g., sustained low-efficiency dialysis and extended daily dialysis) are being developed to provide the advantages of both. 

OS-CFAR is not based on the assumption of homogeneous clutter inside the reference window. Therefore the window length can be extended in the OS-CFAR case without any disadvantages. For comparison, OS-CFAR with N = 24 will even outperform classical CA-CFAR with N = 16. This is an important advantage of the OS-CFAR procedure. 

The advantage of either rope or belt skimmers is that they do not require significant operational attention. They can be left unattended (except for routine maintenance) for extended periods of time. Also, either unit can recover thin layers of floating product without sophisticated instrumentation. The primary disadvantage is that the recovery capacity is limited to a few hundred gallons per day per unit. Higher-viscosity oils attach more effectively to the oleophilic materials. Less-viscous products are recovered less effectively.
