Haldor Topspe also offers the S-250 concept and the three-bed S-300 converter. The S-250 uses the S-200 converter followed by a one-bed S-50 converter with a steam boiler or steam superheater between the two converters85. The S-50 catalyst bed inlet temperature (which is equal to the converter inlet temperature) is controlled by the amount of steam superheating that occurs upstream of the S-50. The S-300 has an internal heat exchanger installed between the second and third catalyst beds. In 2001 a total of thirteen (13) S-300 converters were in operation or under construction. A cut-away view of an S-300 converter is shown in Figure 6.9207. [Pg.179]

In most ion-exchange installations, the vertical column is the most commonly employed unit. The system may consist of a single column with one type of resin (single column system), two or more columns containing a variety of cation and/or anion exchange resins (multiple-bed system), or a single column containing a mixed bed of two (or more) resins (monobed or mixed-bed system). [Pg.645]

Thus, to be attractive, the annualized cost must be negative so that the absolute value of the savings in the annual cost of heating the erode oil (a negative quantity) is greater than the annualized cost of the heat exchanger installation. The more negative Q is, the better. [Pg.628]

Helium gas was preheated up to 105 5°C with a heat exchanger installed upstream of the vessel and injected at a flow rate of 60Ncm /s through a centered single-hole bottom nozzle with an inner diameter, of 0.5 mm. Therefore, it is not necessary to consider the expansion of gas at the nozzle exit due to temperature difference between the bath and the injected gas. The density ratio of the molten Wood s metal to the Helium gas is the same order of magnitude as that of steel to Ar. The nozzle was made of fluororesin (commercial name Teflon). The origin of the axial and radial coordinates, z and r, were placed at the center of the nozzle exit. The volumetric gas flow rate at the nozzle exit was 67 cm /s. Some additional measurements were made for gg = 95Ncm /s. [Pg.20]
