The ASTM Standard D-2241, Table 7.5, uses a standard dimension ratio (SDR) for piping, where 

S = strength and t = factor of safety. A design stress of o = 2000 psi is recommended for 12454 B pipe. This corresponds to a factor of safety of 2.2 for preventing creep rupture at 100,000 h or more life as indicated in Table 7.6.
