Pailer [155] has succeeded in showing that at least twelve alkaloids occur in the seeds of Evonymus europaea L. He used chloroform-ethanol (100 + 2) on silica gel G layers, detecting with DragendorfF reagent. This technique was used also for monitoring the separation of the alkaloids by counter-current distribution.
