Eudragit RSPM

In 12 healthy men, there was no food-induced change in the systemic availability of a sustained-release lithium formulation that used an acrylic matrix of Eudragit RSPM as a sustaining agent (694). 

Controlled-release formulations of acetaminophen, aminopyrine, chlorpheniramine maleate, and salicylic acid that use Eudragit RSPM as a water-insoluble carrier, prepared by the solvent method, have been reported. A novel approach that uses a less soluble derivative of the drug as a carrier was used by Yang and Swarbrick to prepare sustained-release solid dispersions of dapsone.

Eudragit RS 100, RSPM, S 100 and L 100 were received by courtesy of Rohm Pharma GmbH, Darmstadt, FRG. Theophylline (Indian Pharmacopoeia), polyisobutadiene, acetone, trichloroethylene, cyclohexane and methylene chloride were procured commercially. 

Because of the pH-independent dissolution profile of Eudragit RS 100 and RSPM, the dosage forms prepared with these polymers offer better controlled release kinetics than those with S 100 and L 100, as the solubilities of the latter are pH dependent.
