The sample is subjected to pressure digestion with HN03, or dry ashing, boron in the digest is chelated with 2-ethyl-l,3-hexanediol, extracted with MIBK and its concentration determined by FAAS using a nitrous oxide-acetylene flame. 

DBU proved to be an effective and selective catalyst for the tert-butyldimethylsilylation of primary and secondary alcohols at ambient temperature in different solvents in the presence of DBU (85BCJ3669). Improved control of and/or improved latitude in ink/water balance at the printing plate by this mechanism is accomplished best with isopropanol because of its bulk-reinforced surface activity.
