Ethane and nitrogen

Self-Test 13.6B Azomethane, CH N2CH3, decomposes to ethane and nitrogen gas in the reaction CH N2CH (g) - CH CH3(g) + N2(g). The reaction was followed at 460. K by measuring the partial pressure of azomethane over time ... [Pg.663]

The above reaction scheme between nitric esters and hydrazine or its derivatives is confirmed by the reaction of methylhydrazine and ethyl nitrate which yield methane (not ethane) and nitrogen. This indicates that the unstable monomethyl-di-imid should have been an intermediate product ... [Pg.12]

Ethane and nitrogen.—There were obtained from 100 C2H6 + 100 N2 (Berthelot) 98.2 H2, 3.0 CH4, 73.5 N2, Ci6H32N4. [Pg.271]

To illustrate how rate laws of this type are formed, we shall first consider the gas-phase decomposition of azomethane, A20, to give ethane and nitrogen ... [Pg.187]

This reaction is, of course, just the reverse reaction of that given by Equation (7-5). In the alternative path the active intermediate decomposes spontaneously to form ethane and nitrogen ... [Pg.465]

The acid-catalyzed addition of such olefins as isobutylene to the hydroxyl group at C-1 was also studied. After 24 hours in a bomb at 100°, the sirupy 1-0-isobutylene derivative was obtained in 58% yield. A similar product was formed during treatment of the acetal with ethane and nitrogen in a bomb at 150 to 160°. The resulting vinyl ether had m.p. 43-45°. [Pg.247]

Water Solute in Hydrocarbon-Rich Vapor and Liquid. The pure component parameters of water solute AP(TC) and a were determined by using Equations 5 and 16 to fit the gas-phase volumetric properties of steam (5) and the second virial cross coefficients of steam and light gases such as methane, ethane, and nitrogen (6). The least-squares minimization technique was used to find the parameters that gave the minimum deviations between calculated and experimental pressures and second virial cross coefficients. (Table I lists the parameters for pure steam and of other compounds used in this study.)... [Pg.242]

The unimolecular decomposition of azomethane, CH3—N=N—CH3, to ethane and nitrogen has been extensively studied as a function of temperature and pressure. The high-pressure rate constant is... [Pg.105]

Azomethane, CH3—N=N—CH3, decomposes in the gas phase by a first-order mechanism, to produce ethane and nitrogen CH3NNCH3 — C2H6 + Nj. At 267°C with initial pressure 320 mm Hg (azomethane the only substance present), the pressure reaches 323.2 mm Hg after 400 seconds. [Pg.348]

Din, in the third volume edited by him on the thermodynamic functions of gases, has treated methane, ethane, and nitrogen, but whereas... [Pg.68]

The accurate prediction of thermodynamic properties of natural gas systems is of interest for gas industry. Compressibility factors are used in energy and flow metering. It is also used in calculations of gas pressure gradient in tubing and pipelines. When large volumes of gas are traded between produeers, distributors, and consumers, error in the estimation of the amount of involved are of real economic significance. In gas condensate reservoirs, well-productivity often declines rapidly when pressure drops below the dew point pressure near-wellbore. Therefore, it is very important to accurately determine the dew point pressure. The pressure and temperature of most natural gas mixtures can be found up to 150 MPa and 500 K, respectively (Nasrifar and Boland, 2006). At these eonditions, methane, ethane, and nitrogen are almost always supercritical while other hydroearbons are subcritical. Thus, the equation of state of natural gas mixture must be aeeurate at supercritical and subcritical behavior of methane and heavy hydrocarbons, respectively. [Pg.116]

In this work we have modelled ethane and nitrogen as two-site molecules. The sites of... [Pg.553]
