Equal rights

Recognize that people have certain capabilities the law says that people have equal rights (so it reads that we were all equal since 1776) but some interpret it to mean equal capabilities. So it has been said via Sun Tzu, The Art of War, about 500 BC Now the method of employing people is to use the avaricious and the stupid, the wise and the brave, and to give responsibilities to each in situations that suit the person. Do not charge people to do what they cannot do. Select them and give them responsibilities commensurate with their abilities. ...

And so another attempt at equal rights for women students had failed. 

Twenty-seven years passed before the issue arose again. A Second World War had come and gone, while women at Newnham and Girton were behaving in every other way as if they were full members of the university. The issue had become a considerable embarrassment to the university authorities. Another Syndicate reported in 1947 and, to the relief of all, its recommendations giving women equal rights passed without dissent.

The Policy provides a framework of common procedures by which the ethics review process may be standardized. The Policy continues to recognize the diversity of various fields, but promotes the sharing of general ethical principles. Thus, this document can lend itself to many areas. The Policy is not intended to address specific ethical dilemmas but to provide guiding principles and standards as well as promote thought regarding areas of controversy.
