Epon resins

The carboxylated latexes are formulated to use a reduced amount of a less reactive 2inc complex. Special resin blends provide an optimum balance of film tack and strength, and are coUoidaHy compatible with the carboxylated latexes (158). Epon resins may also be used as an acid acceptor in place of 2inc oxide (160). [Pg.547]

In addition to its higher reactivity towards epoxy groups, another advantage provided by the reaction of ethylpiperazine terminated siloxanes with Epon Resin 828 was... [Pg.58]

The FM 123-2, supplied as a supported film on a knitted mlcro-fllament nylon carrier, was applied directly to one pretreated (SAA or FPL) A1 panel (15 cm x 15 cm x 0.3 cm). A second panel was then pressed onto the exposed adhesive side and the "sandwich structure was subsequently cured at 120°C under 40 psi for 1 hr. A 1 1 1 mixture of the epoxy-polyamide formulation (EPON resin Versamld curing agent thinner, MIL-T-81772) was sprayed onto prepared 7075-T6 specimens to a thickness (dry) of 0.015 - 0.023 cm. [Pg.236]

A modified BMI-epoxy resin system has been introduced by Shell Chemical Company. The system is a highly reactive blend of a bismaleimide, COM-PIMIDE 1206 (55-60% by weight solution of BMI in DMF), and EPON Resin 1151, a polyfunctional epoxy resin (60). In contrast to many polyimide resins on the market, no free MDA is present in the product. This is an important feature, since MDA has been identified as an animal carcinogen and possibly a human carcinogen. This resin system has been fully evaluated for use in multilayer PCB boards (61). 2-Methylimidazole is recommended as a catalyst. However, if required, the processing window can be widened by using 2-phenylimidazole... [Pg.187]

Gold wire (1 mm diameter, > 99% gold) was purchased from Aldrich (Sydney, Australia) EPON Resin 825 and EPI-CURE curing agent 3271 were from Shell (Sydney, Australia) and nichrome wire and glass tubes (4 mm i.d.) were obtained from the workshop. [Pg.1046]

A formulation involving Epon resin 1009 was similar to the Figure 7 coating however, a bake of 140 F. for 48 hours was required. [Pg.71]

Glycidyl Ether of Tetraphenolethane. A large number of polyhydric phenols have been used to prepare diglycidyl ethers. The polyphenol, l l,2 2-(p-hydroxyphenol)ethane, is used to prepare a tetrafunctional epoxy resin, tetraglycidyl ether of tetraphenolethane. The functionality of commercial resins (e.g., EPON Resin 1031, Resolution Performance Products, LLC) is about 3.5. This forms a solid resin (melting point of 80°C) with a structure as shown in Fig. 2.6. Commercial products are solid resins and solutions. [Pg.32]

Tetraglycidyl ether of tetraphenolethane is an epoxy resin that is noted for high-temperature and high-humidity resistance. It has a functionality of 3.5 and thus exhibits a very dense crosslink structure. It is useful in the preparation of high-temperature adhesives. The resin is commercially available as a solid (e.g., EPON Resin 1031, Resolution Performance Polymers). It can be crosslinked with an aromatic amine or a catalytic curing agent to induce epoxy-to-epoxy homopolymerization. High temperatures are required for these reactions to occur. [Pg.78]

In order to get images suitable for accurate particle size distribution, the catalyst samples were embedded in Epon resin, then cut in a section thinner than 50 nm. Highly contrasted micrographs were then obtained on a JEOL JEM lOfXTX instrument. Each histogram was worked out from a statistical analysis of around 1000 particles. [Pg.533]
