I am very satisfied with my doctoral education because The faculty allowed me to grow and pursue knowledge in a very open way. The professors were marvelous and actively engaged in cross-disciplinary research. Although I was specializing in., I was exposed to some of the leading researchers inj(another chemistry specialty and another scientific discipline). The department was small enough so that I knew everyone. 

In interdisciplinary endeavors, department chairs have a number of administrative barriers that cause them to be reluctant to engage in partnerships (1) how to distribute expenses for necessary materials across departments (2) how to allocate the time commitment of faculty across departments (3) intellectual property issues and (4) the burden of adding electives in addition to core coursework. To overcome barriers in interdisciplinary endeavors, department must see the value in collaboration. A reward system to motivate these partnerships may encourage interdisciplinary collaboration and encourage departments to see the value in collaboration outside their departments, but other value propositions must also be identifled. 

Margarete studied pharmacy at the Faculty of Natural Sciences, University of Vienna, from 1995 to 2001. In her master thesis she engaged in the synthesis of cytostatic drugs. After graduation, she underwent professional training to be pharmacist. In addition to working at a pharmacy, she studies at the Vienna University of Economics and Business Administration. 

Faculty use a variety of materials in teaching physical chemistry, including textbooks, workbooks, and symbolic math workbooks. The best materials -measured against the previously stated goals - are active, current, connected and easy to use. Resources that are active require students to engage and reflect on the material at hand. Current research should be emphasized. Materials should... 

Overall faculty were pleased with the materials - all of diem would use the materials again in their teaching. Two-thirds of the faculty felt that students found the modules challenging, while 80% noted that they engaged student interest. The strong connections to modem chemistry were appreciated by two-thirds of the instructors.

Let me conclude by saying that the research projects that students engage in range from ones that faculty devise for them at their level just to get them involved and acquainted with research to pure research on a faculty project.
