Unfortunately, there are no rules to decide in advance which topology will solve a particular problem best. This means that many assays have to be done, varying the number of layers and the number of neurons per layer. The good news is that, as pointed out in the paragraph above, the numbers of neurons in the input and output layers are almost immediately defined by the number of variables you have and your purpose (regression or classification). The other parameters will be set after empirical studies. These are considered in some detail in subsequent sections of this chapter. Often experience will help, but remember that each problem is different and so are the spectral artefacts, noise, etc. Do not immediately accept an ANN you have seen published somewhere as the best one for you because, almost certainly, it will need some further optimisation. 

The content analysis of the Polish media has been somewhat restricted as compared to that of the Swedish, mainly for practical reasons, such as difficulties in accessing the empirical material and language barriers.9 The analysis of the Polish press has focused primarily on general patterns in the news flow, such as dominant content/ themes and prominent frames. In addition, the search profile was more limited here, even if the number of newspapers studied was greater and the time period longer.10...

Trustees also included executives in the Scripps-Howard newspaper empire and such well-known editors as William Allen White and Marlen Pew, and the historian Mark Sullivan. The most striking news that one learns when studying vapor-liquid phenomena is that not only does the vapor need to nucleate a liquid droplet to condense, but that also the liquid needs to nucleate a gas bubble to evaporate [24]. On the theoretical side, the simulation is made easier because the vapor is relatively simple to handle, on the experimental side, vapor pressure measurements in vapor-liquid equilibrium are fairly easy to perform. The Gibbs ensemble Monte Carlo method (Section 9.8) can be applied to the vapor-liquid equilibrium with considerable success vapor pressure curves, second virial coefficients, and other equilibrium properties can be calculated by molecular simulation, and, remarkably, good results can apparently be obtained by highly accurate ab initio quantum mechanical potentials [25a] or by simple empirical potentials [25b].
