Elektron

Electro - From Elektron a Greek word for amber. When amber was rubbed on cloth it attracted fluff.

In order to eliminate the expensive naphtholating and drying operations some further important developments were introduced by Chemische Fabrik Griesheim-Elektron under the names of Rapid Fast, Rapidazol, and Rapidogen combinations (mixtures of substantive coupling components with antidiazotates, diazosulfonates, and diazoamino compounds, respectively). 

In Ancient Rome, Pliny the Elder (c. a.d. 23-79) dedicated 37 volumes of Natural History to the emperor Titus. In the last of these books, dealing with gems and precious stones, he describes the properties of the fossil resin, amber. The ability of amber to attract dust was recognised and in fact the word electricity is derived from elektron, the Greek for amber. 

Amber is of both historical and etymological interest as its property of attracting dust was known over 2000 years ago. From the Greek word for amber, elektron, has come the word electricity. Pliny in his works makes an interesting and informative dissertation on the occurrence and properties of amber.

Die aus Diaryl-, Aryl-benzyl- und Alkyl-aryl-sulfonen zuganglichen Sulfinsauren fallen mit hohen Ausbeuten an, wobei die CBcnzy] vor der CAlkyl- und CAryl-S-Bindung gespalten wird3 (praktische Ausfiihrung s. Lit.4). Bei der Reduktion wird zunachst das Tetraalkyl-ammonium-Kation zum Radikal reduziert, das dann das Elektron auf ein Sulfon-Molekul iibertragt4.
