Griesheim-Elektron

In order to eliminate the expensive naphtholating and drying operations some further important developments were introduced by Chemische Fabrik Griesheim-Elektron under the names of Rapid Fast, Rapidazol, and Rapidogen combinations (mixtures of substantive coupling components with antidiazotates, diazosulfonates, and diazoamino compounds, respectively). [Pg.447]

Griesheim (1) An early process for producing chlorine by electrolysis, developed by Chemische Fabrik Griesheim-Elektron, in Germany, and commercialized in 1890. The electrolyte was saturated potassium chloride solution, heated to 80 to 90°C. The byproduct potassium hydroxide was recovered. The process was superseded in the United States by several similar electrolytic processes before being ousted by the mercury cell, invented by H. Y. Castner and K. Kellner in 1892. See Castner-Kellner. [Pg.118]

Griinstein A process for hydrating acetylene to acetaldehyde, invented by N. Griinstein in 1910 and developed by Griesheim-Elektron at Rheinfelden, Germany. [Pg.118]

There are other processes analogous to Castner s which involve no new principles and which are used to a limited extent for instance, with H. Becker s process 11 the form of the cell is modified and the contact electrode process of the Chem. Fabr. Griesheim-Elektron, where the cathode does not dip into the electrolyte but is merely in contact therewith. [Pg.448]

Note One of the compds, 2 nitraminoanthraqui-none, patented by the ChemFabrik Griesheim-Elektron, SwissP 62,348(1912) CA 8,2263 (1914), was reported to expl at 206°. It is a yel powder obtained by treating anthraquinone-2-isodiazocace with an oxidizing agent... [Pg.183]

Chemische Fabrik Griesheim-Elektron, German Patent, 1910, No. 229162. [Pg.16]

Note One of the compds, 2 nitTOminoanthraqui-none, patented by the ChemFabrik Griesheim-Elektron, SwissP 62,348(1912) CA 8,2263... [Pg.183]

Calcium carbide, CaC2, has also been used for the same purpose 6KOH+2CaC2 =6K+2CaO- -4CO- -3H2. The Chem. Fabr. Griesheim-Elektron also patented a process for reducing sodium or potassium fluoride, or fluosilicate, with or without cryolite, by means of calcium carbide. [Pg.450]

Calcium hypochlorite There are a number of processes for the manufacture of calcium hypochlorite ( high percentage bleaching powder ). The oldest is the Griesheim Elektron process ( Perchloron process ) in which a calcium hydroxide suspension is chlorinated to such an extent that the calcium chloride formed mostly dis.solves, but not the calcium hypochlorite. [Pg.168]

The Chcmltche Fabrik Griesheim-Elektron has placed on the market a product, called Sulfophoaphit which consists of zinc, phosphorus, and sulphur. It is stated that both paraffined and sulphured matches can be made with this substance, with any required degree of inflammability. Sulfopkosphit is claimed to be more stable, under atmospheric influences, than red phosphorus and pHos-... [Pg.464]
