Electrospinning ambient conditions

CS and polyethylene oxide blended nanofibres within nanofibrous scaffolds can be prepared by electrospinning at ambient conditions, which further increases the effectiveness of their antimicrobial properties. [Pg.285]

The morphology and the diameter of the electrospun nano Hers can be affected by many electrospinning parameters including solution properties (the concentration, liqnid viscosity, surface tension, and dielectric properties of the polymer solution), processing conditions (apphed voltage, volume Cbw rate, tip to collector distance, and the strength of the apphed electric Hid), and ambient conditions (temperature, atmospheric pressure and humidity) [17-20]. [Pg.150]

Composite fibers of poly(o-anisidine]-PS was produced by electrospinning for chemical vapor sensing. Sensibility of the composite fibers were tested under water and ethanol vapor, the sensors elements responded better to the high polarity ofthe solvent. The CSA-doped POA/PS composition seems to be stable under the submitted ambient conditions to ethanol. The sensor could be reused several times without any change in sensing behavior and/ or damage to the sensing materials. [Pg.92]

The parameters impacting the electrospinning process can be categorized into solution parameters (surface tension, concentration, viscosity and conductivity), processing conditions (voltage, distance from needle to collector, type of collector, flow rate) and ambient conditions (humidity, pressure and temperature) [90, 91]. Based on the interaction of all these factors, the morphology and size of resultant nanofibers can be changed. [Pg.280]

The morphology and mechanical properties of an electrospun nanofiber are very much dependent on the solution, process, and ambient conditions. It was identified that membrane selectivity, porosity, and mechanical strength were modifiable either through pre-electrospinning modification of polymer solutions or through post-electrospinning treatments of nanofibers (Nasreen et al. 2013). Such modifications of electrospun fiber for membrane fabrication are covered comprehensively in Chapters 12 and 15. [Pg.63]
