Electromagnetic interference coatings

Sn02 and indium tin oxide (ITO) for conductive transparent coatings on glass for electromagnetic interference (EMI) applications. 

In shielding for radio-frequency and electromagnetic interference an electroplated coating may -not be necessary. Highly effective performance can be obtained with deposits of thickness as low as 2 to 3 /on and these can be applied economically by electroless processes, which give very uniform thicknesses of deposits even in recessed areas. 

In view of its application in the field of electronics there is particular interest in the coating of polypropylene mouldings against radio-frequency and electromagnetic interference the successful development of aqueous processes for polycarbonate provides a viable alternative to other methods for shielding the housings of electronic products—such as by paints containing nickel.

Polypyrrole Apolymer of pyrrole, afive-membered heterocyclic substance with one nitrogen and four carbon atoms and with two double bonds. The polymer can be prepared via electrochemical polymerization. Polymers thus prepared are doped by electrolyte anion and are electrically conductive. Polypyrrole is used in lightweight secondary batteries, as electromagnetic interference shielding, anodic coatings, photoconductors, solar cells, and transistors.
