Electrocutions

The former is to protect the human body from shock,s and electrocution, while the latter protects the circuit from fire risk. Normally the 300 mA GLCB is used as the incomer and 30 mA as the outgoing for the individual feeding circuits. 

Unfortunately, even if everyone agrees on a tolerable risk value, there are many other subjective factors that influence our understanding (and tolerance) of risk. If 1 fatality per year were tolerable from causes such as falls, electrocutions, or asphyxiations, would TOO fatalities be... 

Wear of medical devices and biomaterials can affect quality of life. Wear of tooth fillings, artificial joints and heart valves can be inconvenient, costly (more frequent replacement) or even life-threateiiiiig (premature breakdowns). Wear of components can also cause accidents. Worn brakes and tires can cause automobile accidents, worn electrical cords can result in electrocution and fires and worn out seals can lead to radiation leaks at nuclear power plants.

We all need to know that electricity and water are an extremely dangerous combination, and explains why we are taught never to sit in the bath at the same time as shaving with a plug-in razor or drying our hair. Electrocution is almost inevitable, and is often fatal. 

An electrical plug has three connections (or pins ) live , neutral and earth . The earth pin is necessary for safety considerations. The potential of the earth pin is the same as that of the ground, so there is no potential difference if we stand on the ground and accidentally touch the earth pin in a plug or electrical appliance. We will not be electrocuted. Conversely, the potentials of the other pins are different from that of the earth - in fact, we sometimes cite their potentials with respect to the earth pin, effectively delining the potential of the ground as being zero. 

Refraining from use of inflammatory statements such as disaster, lethal, nearly electrocuted, and catastrophe... 

To prevent electrocution, check the locations of overhead wires prior to activating the ladder. 

Caution Do not use water or foam extinguishers The persons involved may become part of the electrical circuit and get electrocuted. 

Electrical fires First disconnect the apparatus or equipment by pulling the safety switch or switch off the mains to avoid possibility of being electrocuted. Then use Class C fire extinguisher. 

V7. High Voltage Power Transmission Lines Electric Currents. The chief hazard associated with operations near such lines is the possibility of being electrocuted should a cap leg wire or leading wire be thrown by the blast to make contact with the live power line...
