Effective norm-conserving

The shape-consistent (or norm-conserving ) RECP approaches are most widely employed in calculations of heavy-atom molecules though ener-gy-adjusted/consistent pseudopotentials [58] by Stuttgart team are also actively used as well as the Huzinaga-type ab initio model potentials [66]. In plane wave calculations of many-atom systems and in molecular dynamics, the separable pseudopotentials [61, 62, 63] are more popular now because they provide linear scaling of computational effort with the basis set size in contrast to the radially-local RECPs. The nonrelativistic shape-consistent effective core potential was first proposed by Durand Barthelat [71] and then a modified scheme of the pseudoorbital construction was suggested by Christiansen et al. [72] and by Hamann et al. [73]. [Pg.261]

The calculated and measured electron effective mass m c and its k-dependency for WZ and ZB GaN and AIN are summarised in TABLES 1 and 2, respectively. In LDA calculations, pseudopotentials (or effective core potentials) are almost always used to increase the efficiency of calculations, even for calculations involving hydrogen. This allows smoother wavefunctions, which in turn reduces the number of basis functions. It has been found that transferability (the ability of a pseudoatom to mimic a full-core atom) is governed by norm conservation [39], and pseudopotentials are constructed so that the pseudo-orbitals match the full-core orbitals outside the core. [Pg.17]

Katunuma and coworkers (1971) described a protease in the rat that hydrolyzes the apoenzymes of a number of pyridoxal phosphate-dependent enzymes it has no effect on other proteins or the holoenzymes.
