Edge tape

Delayed-tack adhesives require activation often by moisture, heat/pressure, or contact. Stamps and envelopes are two examples of moisture activation. A common example of heat-activated adhesive is the one applied to wood edge tapes (veneers). These tapes are used to cover the raw edges of plywood in applications such as shelving. A heated iron is used to press the wood tape against the edge to which it is being apphed. The heat activates the adhesive, which becomes tacky and bonds to the wood edge. 

After exiting the oven, the boards are cut to final length, packaged face to face, and the four-foot edge is taped making a "book." From there it is ready for shipment to the customers.

Tape the edges of the ocdusive dressing on all sides, preferably with paper tape, to secure it. 

Note The iodine evaporates relatively quickly from the layer after a chromatogram has been removed from the iodine chamber. This evaporation of the iodine can be considerably delayed by covering the chromatogram with a glass plate the edge can also be sealed with adhesive tape, if necessary. Iodine solution can also be used for detection instead of iodine vapor. 

Examine the entire tape, including the edges, with x 100 magnification (x 10 objective).

Cover the sharp edges with tape or rags to protect your hands. 

Cover the charge with another piece of paper or cloth, fold over the edges and tape tightly to retain the charge in a flat diamond shape. See Figure 42. 

Roll a 23-cm x 30-cm piece of aluminum foil into a cylinder that is 6 cm x 30 cm. Tape the edges with masking tape.
