Dyspepsia ulcer-like

Nonulcer dyspepsia—Ulcer-like dyspepsia that has been investigated, but endoscopic findings yield no evidence of mucosal injury (ulcer). [Pg.2687]

Dyspepsia may or may not be associated with an ulcer, and in itself is of little clinical value when trying to identify subsets of patients who are most likely to have an ulcer. As many as 50% of patients who take NSAIDs report having dyspepsia. " Patients with dyspeptic symptoms may have either uninvestigated (no upper endoscopy) dyspepsia or investigated (underwent upper endoscopy) dyspepsia. If an ulcer is not confirmed in a patient with ulcer-like symptoms at the time of endoscopy, the disorder is referred to as nonulcer dyspepsia. ... [Pg.635]

The most common bisphosphonate adverse effects are nausea, abdominal pain, and dyspepsia. Esophageal, gastric, or duodenal irritation, perforation, ulceration, or bleeding may occur when administration directions are not followed or when bisphosphonates are prescribed for patients with contraindications. The most common adverse effects of IV bisphosphonates include fever, flu-like symptoms, and local injection-site reactions. Osteonecrosis of the jaw occurs rarely if it develops, oral chlorhexidine washes, systemic antibiotics, and systemic analgesics are used based on severity. [Pg.38]

In recent years acid-related disorders have been recognised to be very common. Peptic ulcer was early known to be associated with acid No acid, no ulcer, Schwarz quipped. Several other upper gastrointestinal conditions were subsequently associated with acid, as the medical treatment improved and acid-reducing agents were shown to be effective in conditions like dyspepsia and nonesophagitis heartburn. [Pg.239]
