Dyneon, a wholly owned subsidiary of 3M set up in 1996, is one of the world s leading fluoropolymer producers with operations or representation in more than 50 countries. It sells process aids to the plastics industry, particularly polyolefins. Other products include fluoroelastomers, PTFE and speciality additives for rubbers. Among fluoropolymers, there are additives to prevent dripping in burning plastics. 

Dyneon acquired Solvay Fluoropolymers in 2001, including a PVDF manufacturing facility. In November 2004 it entered into an agreement with SpecialChem SA to moimt a web-based technical service facility for polymer process aids. The company employs more than 800 people worldwide.
