Wet Dynamic Scrubbers. These scrubbers are also known as mechanical scrubbers, as seen in Figure 20.7. They have a power-driven rotor to produce a spray that is centered in the inlet of the unit such that the blades of the rotor are coated with water. As the dust-laden stream enters, it contacts the water surfaces and the dust-water mixture is thrown outward against the walls. 

There are different scrubber designs such as spray tower, dynamic scrubber, collision scrubber, and Venturi scrubber which render the removal of gaseous and particle emissions at the same time and neutralize corrosive gases with a removal efficiency from 90%-99.9% for particles in the size range of 0.5-100 pm. The efficiency is somewhat lower for fine particles (less than 1 pm size). There can be corrosion problems and freezing in cold climates.
