Dust collectors performance

In a gas stream cariying dust or fume, some degree of particle flocculation will exist, so that both discrete particles and clusters of adhering particles will be present. The discrete particles composing the clusters may be only loosely attached to each other, as by van der Waals forces [Lapple, Chem. Eng., 75(11), 149 (1968)]. Flocculation tends to increase with increases in particle concentration and may strongly influence collector performance. [Pg.1580]

Cartridge collectors perform very effectively in many different applications. Common applications of cartridge filter systems with pulse jet cleaning are comparable to baghouses described earlier. In addition to these applications, cartridge collectors can be used in any process where dust is generated and can be collected and ducted to a central location. [Pg.412]

Pressure loss through the cyclone is also a key performance parameter, and this depends mainly on the design of the cyclone. The drilling operation, which provides a recess for the installation of a fuse in a 155mm shell, was performed in building 1619. An air driven drill is used to put a recess in the Composition B that has been encased in the nose. The dust generated from this operation is removed by suction through a 5.1 cm (2.0 in) line to a Hoffman primary dust collector.
