Drum reclaimer

SPILL CLEAN-UP sweep and/or vacuum up solid and reclaim into recovery/salvage drums for disposal if appropriate, moisten spill first, in order to prevent dispersion of dust flush spill area with large amounts of water, but not into lakes, ponds, streams, waterways, and public water supplies remove all sources of ignition. 

The basic advantages of a counterflow plant over a parallel-flow drum-mix plant are that it is more environment friendly, fuel efficiency increases and higher percentages of reclaimed asphalt can be used. 

The desire to improve production efficiency, reduce hydrocarbon emissions, increase fuel efficiency, reduce operating cost and increase the percentage of reclaimed asphalt blend with virgin material led to the development of alternative counterflow drum dryer/mixer techniques. 

Another technique is the development of a double-barrel dryer/mixer (see Figure 8.6). In this technique, the aggregate is dried and heated in an inner rotating drum, while mixing of the constituent materials of the asphalt (aggregates, bitumen, reclaimed asphalt, etc.) takes place in the outer shell (barrel). Compaction of both scarified (reclaimed) and new asphalt material is carried out by a combination of double steel drum vibratory rollers and pneumatic-type rollers.
