Driving Forces for Fuel Cell Work

Many different driving forces are behind this broad growth of the fuel cell field. Scientific institntions are interested in further scientific and technical progress. The commercial organizations wish to see a larger production volume and increased sales volume of their market products, and hence are interested in improved engineering processes and performance figures. 

Certain categories of fuel cell work touch the interests of countries as a whole, inasmuch as they promise solutions to global ecological and geopolitical problems, and for this reason are sustained and financed by govermnent bodies. Some of these global problems are listed below.
