Lead bullion is clectrorcfined to produce refined lead and slimes. The slimes arc treated in the silver refinery where a series of furnaces process the slimes to produce dore metal and bismuth, as well as various slags and baghouse dusts that contain antimony and arsenic. Some of the baghouse dust is directed to the copper products plant and the lead alloys plant to recover antimony and arsenic values, and the remainder of the baghouse dust and the slags are recycled to the smelter. Done metal is electrorefined to produce pure silver and gold bullion. [Pg.311]

The slimes are smelted to Dore metal and cast to anodes. The anodes are processed by silver electrolysis. The slime of silver electrolysis contains gold and PGMs. [Pg.2827]

Dore metal Silver-gold alloy usually derived from noble metal refining. [Pg.309]

Anode slimes collected from the mud of copper refining cells are leached, roasted, fire-refined and cast into anodes (Fig. 4.11), the composition being known as Dore metal (Table 4.8). [Pg.239]

Being in a free state, Au and Ag in molten smelted product under high temperature has higher ionization potential, larger density and surface tension. Density and surface tension of copper matte increase with the increase of Cu in matte. Finally, the structure properties of droplets of matte and Dore metal become similar. Therefore, tension among phases for... [Pg.268]

Moebius An electrolytic process for removing gold and platinum from silver. The crude metal, known as Dore, is used as the anode. The cathodes are of silver or stainless steel. The electrolyte is a diluted solution of silver nitrate and nitric acid. Gold and other metals collect as anode slimes. Invented in Mexico by B. Moebius, first operated there in 1884, and subsequently widely operated in Germany and the United States. See also Balbach, Thum, Wohlwill. [Pg.180]

Homogeneous nucleation - concept of the critical cluster A metal surface that is homogeneously flat, like mercury or quasiperfect silver single crystals [2], offers no specific adsorption sites. In analogy to 3D phenomena, the nucleation of a new 2D phase may be treated on the basis of the classical nucleation theory (CNT) as formulated by Gibbs [102] and further developed by Volmer [103,104], Parkas [105], Stransld and Kaishev [106-109], Becker and Doring[110], Zeldovich [111], and... [Pg.390]

Satisfying theoretical statements on nucleation and crystal growth were found only some time after Tammann s experimental investigations. The basis of the classical nucleation theory is traced back to the ideas of Volmer and Weber [2.47] and Becker and Doring [2.48]. At first they characterized simple nucleation phenomena as the condensation of pure gas phases. Later on, Turnbull and Fischer [2.49] transferred the nucleation theory to the phase transformation liquid/solid and described the solidification of metal melts. [Pg.27]
