Interfacial doping

Nanoparticles of Mn and Pr-doped ZnS and CdS-ZnS were synthesized by wrt chemical method and inverse micelle method. Physical and fluorescent properties wra cbaractmzed by X-ray diffraction (XRD) and photoluminescence (PL). ZnS nanopatlicles aniKaled optically in air shows higher PL intensity than in vacuum. PL intensity of Mn and Pr-doped ZnS nanoparticles was enhanced by the photo-oxidation and the diffusion of luminescent ion. The prepared CdS nanoparticles show cubic or hexagonal phase, depending on synthesis conditions. Core-shell nanoparticles rahanced PL intensity by passivation. The interfacial state between CdS core and shell material was unchan d by different surface treatment. [Pg.757]

The oscillations observed with artificial membranes, such as thick liquid membranes, lipid-doped filter, or bilayer lipid membranes indicate that the oscillation can occur even in the absence of the channel protein. The oscillations at artificial membranes are expected to provide fundamental information useful in elucidating the oscillation processes in living membrane systems. Since the oscillations may be attributed to the coupling occurring among interfacial charge transfer, interfacial adsorption, mass transfer, and chemical reactions, the processes are presumed to be simpler than the oscillation in biomembranes. Even in artificial oscillation systems, elementary reactions for the oscillation which have been verified experimentally are very few. [Pg.609]

The loss of phase complexity in both systems may be attributed to an increase of the PS/PEO and PI/PEO interaction parameters. Because LiClC is selectively located in the PEO domains, the interaction parameters (/ps-peo and xpi-peo ) must increase, leading to variations in domain type and dimension. As the lithium salt increases the polarity (and presumably the solubility parameters) of the PEO domains, the interfacial tensions between PEO and PI, and PEO and PS are elevated. Thus, a reduction in the overall PEO interfacial area is required, which necessitates additional chain stretching. In consequence, the CSC structure becomes dominant when comparing doped and non-doped samples [171] (Figs. 54 and 55b). [Pg.201]

The interfacial capacity follows the Mott-Schottky equation (7.4) over a wide range of potentials. Figure 8.4 shows a few examples for electrodes with various amounts of doping [5]. The dielectric constant of Sn02 is e 10 so the donor concentration can be determined from the slopes of these plots. [Pg.100]

A significant step forward in our understanding of Pt was taken by Verkerk and Burgraff, who in 1983 analyzed the impedance of porous sputtered Pt (and Pt gauze) electrodes on YSZ and gadolinia-doped ceria (GDC). As shown in Figure 11, they used a Randles circuit to model the interfacial contributions to the impedance, allowing them to subtract from the data the contributions of uncompensated iR and... [Pg.558]
