These compounds have been obtained105 by bubbling [18F]F2 in neon through a solution of dopamine hydrochloride in anhydrous HF containing BF3, at-65°C (equation 51). PET scans showed that 6-[18F]FDA is a good tracer to study cardiac neuronal function. Routine injections of 5 mCi of 6-[18F]FDA will be possible by using the lsO (p, n) 18F nuclear reaction by irradiation of [180]02 thick targets106. 

A. Dopamine hydrochloride (Intropin and others) as a concentrate for admixture to intravenous solutions (40-, 80-, and 160-mg/mL in 5-mL vials) or premixed parenteral product for injection (0.8-, 1.6-, and 3.2-mg/mL in 5% dextrose). All contain sodium bisulfite as a preservative. 

Subcutaneous injection of apomorphine hydrochloride (Apokyn), a potent dopamine agonist, is effective for the temporary relief ("rescue") of off-periods of akinesia in patients on optimized dopaminergic therapy. It is rapidly taken up in the blood and then the brain, leading to clinical benefit that begins within about 10 minutes of injection and persists for up to 2 hours. The optimal dose is identified by administering increasing test doses until adequate benefit is achieved or a maximum of 10 mg is reached. Most patients require a dose of 3-6 mg, and this should be given no more than about three times daily.
