DOP penetration

Local DOP penetration <0.1% of the upstream concentration provided that local results of hot tunnel particle counting air cleanliness classification are within specifications (particle counts at any location of the heating section <100 particles >0.5 [xm/ft and zero particle >5 pm/fh)... 

The authors experimental design included the use of four medium-efficiency fibreglass filter papers of very low variability in order to effectively evaluate filter penetration versus particle diameter. A detailed description of the filters was tabulated and the homogeneity of these samples was demonstrated by the low coefficients of variation shown for both pressure drop and Q127 DOP penetration tests. For compliance with BS 5726 the HEPA filter must have a sodium chloride or dispersed oil particle (DOP) penetration of not more than 0.003% when tested in accordance with BS3928.

HEPA filters can be tested with different methods. A wide range of test equipment for on-site measurements include particle counters, pressure gauges, airflow meters, energy data loggers, corrosion monitors and gas analysis equipment. One of the tests is the measurement of penetration of dispersed oil particles (DOP) through the HEPA filters. DOP used to be the abbreviation of DiOctylPhtalate, which however has been replaced by safer products.
