Dodecyltrimethyl ammonium bromide DTAB

Cetyltrimethyl ammonium bromide (CTAB) dodecyltrimethyl ammonium bromide (DTAB) tetradecyltrimethyl ammonium bromide (TTAB) trioctyl-methyl ammonium chloride (TOMAC) N-benzyl-N-dodecyl-hf-bis(2-hy-droxy ethyl) ammonium chloride (BDBAC) cetyl pyridinimn chloride (CPC) quaternary ammonium salt with carbon atoms of R ranging from 8-10 (CHj Rj N+ CL) (Aliquat 336)... 

In this work we investigated the formation process of two different types of Zeogrids (ZG) in presence of cetyltrimethylammonium bromide (CTAB) and dodecyltrimethyl-ammonium bromide (DTAB), respectively. 

Surprisingly, almost all the applied work in MLC to date appears to have involved only ionic micellar mobile phases composed of either anionic sodium dodecyl sulfate (SDS), or cationic hexadecyltrimethyl-ammonium bromide or chloride (CTAB or CTAC), and dodecyltrimethyl-ammonium bromide (DTAB). Reports on the use of unclmrg nonionic surfactants, such as Neodol 91-6 and polyoxyethylene(23) dodecanol (Brij 35) are exceptions. 

We have studied three model systems of five-component mixtures oil -water - surfactant - alcohol - salt. Three different ionic surfactants have been used dodecyltrimethyl ammonium bromide (DTAB), sodium dodecyl sulfate (SDS) and sodium hexadecyl benzene sulfonate (SHBS). The alcohol used was butanol its addition was necessary because the above surfactants alone could form microemulsions. The salt screened the electrostatic interactions between surfactant polar heads it reduced Cq In this way, a continuous structural evolution o/w - bicontinuous - w/o could be obtained by addition of salt. At each salinity, the size of the structural elements was the largest (maximum swelling Rq for droplets, bicontinuous structures) because the microemulsions coexisted with excess oil and/or water.
