DNA sequence data

DNA sequence data have been used to investigate inherited diseases such as hemophilia and muscular dystrophy, and also in cancer research. 

The authors suggested that extrapolation beyond the specific area studied was not warranted. It would be of interest to see what DNA sequence data might have to say about red oak throughout its range.

A fundamental goal of research in the biological sciences is to understand protein structure. In theory, protein sequence information can be inferred from the fast growing volume of DNA sequence data [1] but predicting the three-dimensional structure of a protein from its sequence remains an open and important problem [2 1]. Part of the difficulty in solving this problem is due to the fact that many of the existing techniques rely on our knowledge of previously determined structures which, compared to sequence data, is relatively limited.

The accelerating collection of DNA sequence data has been accompanied by a series of revolutionary leaps in our ability to analyze and extract information from it. The enabling technology comes in the form of computational biology, a set of mathematical techniques that, when combined with the sequencing data, forms the science of genomics. So let s have a look at what has been accomplished and its implications.

This problem can be overcome by a targeted approach involving generations of protein-specific probes based on DNA sequence data. These probes can be used to identify individual proteins and to investigate their functions at cell or tissue levels. This solution helps scientists to obtain useful, comprehensive and easily interpretable data. It is faster and easier than the conventional approach. These targeted molecular probes are formed using recombinant human antibodies by means of phage display technique. 

The significance of these experimental (metabolic) data might be circumstantial without molecular (DNA sequence) data support (Boxma et al. 2005). Notably, no gene similar to PFO or PFL could be detected. However, genes for all three subunits of a PDH are present and are expressed.
