Displaced testis

Examine liver, gallbladder (mouse), stomach, spleen, pancreas, intestines, kidneys, adrenal gland, ureters, bladder, umbilical artery, genital organs, dorsal aorta, and caudal vena cava. Possible abnormalities that can be observed include absent renal papilla, dilated ureter(s), and displaced testis. [Pg.237]

ApoC-I is expressed mainly in liver but also in lung, skin, testis, spleen, neural retina, and RPE. Its multiple functions include the activation of lecithin cholesterol acyltransferase (LCAT) and the inhibition, among others, of lipoprotein and hepatic lipases that hydrolyze triglycerides in particle cores. Notably, both LCAT and lipoprotein lipases are expressed in RPE and choroid (Li et al., 2006). Moreover ApoC-I has been shown to displace ApoE on the VLDL and LDL and thus hinder their binding and uptake via their corresponding receptors (Li et al., 2006). [Pg.319]

Cisplatin [cis-diammine-dichloroplatinum(II)] is an active chemotherapeutic drug used to treat of a variety of human tumors, including cancers of the testis, ovary, cervix, bladder, neck, lung, endometrium, and the malignant brain tumor glioblastoma multiforme. Cisplatin binds preferentially with purine residues in deoxyribonueleie acid (DNA) after hydroxyl groups have displaced cisplatin s chloride ions. Several types of adducts are known to form, the most abundant of whieh are the 1,2-intrastrand cross-links at the d(GpG) and d(ApG) sites. Cisplatin exerts its antineoplastic effeet by inhibiting DNA replication and transcription. [Pg.340]
