Dispersion cell aggregates

Cells of concavum adhered tenaciously to the surface of the culture flask and were embedded in mucilage. Only the most vigorous aspiration dispersed these aggregations sufficiently to permit reproducible counts. The mean dorsoventral diameter of cultured cells was 45 im. No morphological differences between axenic and bacterized cells were noted, but Irregularly-shaped cells were common in ESAW control cultures. 

The overall description (model) of a reactor is obtained through process synthesis by combining models of reactor hydrodynamics, mass transfer and heat exchange with an appropriate cell (subcellular) or population model ( 1).Description of a population should take into consideration possible dispersed or aggregated (the distinct morphological appearances of a culture pellets, mycelium, flocks, growth on reactor wall in the form of microbial film) forms of population. Biomass support particles are gaining appreciable importance in aerobic (40) as well as in anaerobic processes.

Dispersions of cells are prepared in clinical laboratories to diagnose cell abnormalities. An anionic fluorinated surfactant facilitates the dispersion of cell aggregates from tissues in a saline solution [205].
