Direct-marketing systems

This directive is concerned with the authorisation and the placing on the market of biocidal products. It attempts to establish a list of active substances that may be used in biocidal products within the EC. In order to assess which substances should be included in the list, a system of registration, authorisation and periodic evaluation is legislated with this Directive. Once approved, active substances will be incorporated into Annex I of the directive. The system of registration is created for active substances, which pose a low riskfor humans, animals and the environment and will be incorporated in Annex lA. In Annex I B so called basic substances such as are listed. For products of higher concern, usually not an active substance, an authorisation system is established, that includes the formulation of dossiers on these products which need to be submitted to the respective national authority. In Annex I B... [Pg.29]

Shampoos have been prepared in various forms, and have included systems that are thick and thin, clear and opaque, pourable Hquids, soflds, gels, pastes, powders, flakes, and aerosol types. In many cases, shampoos have been prepared and directed for various hair types, eg, normal, dry, damaged, and color treated. Most marketed shampoos (ca 1993) are primarily clear Hquid and opaque lotion types gel and paste forms also are available. Aerosol shampoos are available to the consumer however, their impact on the market has been limited to the dry shampoo aerosol. [Pg.448]

Concern for personnel exposure to hydrazine has led to several innovations in packaging to minimize direct contact with hydrazine, eg, Olin s E-Z dmm systems. Carbohydrazide was introduced into this market for the same reason it is a soHd derivative of hydrazine, considered safer to handle because of its low vapor pressure. It hydrolyzes to release free hydrazine at elevated temperatures in the boiler. It is, however, fairly expensive and contributes to dissolved soHds (carbonates) in the water (193). In field tests, catalyzed hydrazine outperformed both hydrazine and carbohydrazide when the feedwater oxygen and iron levels were critical (194). A pubUshed comparison is available (195) of these and other proposed oxygen scavengers, eg, diethyUiydroxylarnine, ydroquinone, methyethylketoxime, and isoascorbic acid. [Pg.291]
