Dihydrogenated ergot alkaloids

Ergoloid Mesylates (Dihydrogenated Ergot Alkaloids, Di hy d roergotoxi ne)... [Pg.1170]

Depression of the vasomotor center or possibly stimulation of the vasodilator center—certain of the ergot alkaloids, primarily the dihydrogenated ergot alkaloids. (Some of the ergot alkaloids are considered also to possess adrenergic blocking properties, but in nontoxic amounts in man it is difficult to demonstrate such action.)... [Pg.36]

Co-dergocrine is the British Approved Name for a formulation that contains a combination of dihydrogenated ergot alkaloids dihydroergocornine mesilate, dihydro-ergocristine mesilate, and (in the ratio 2 1) a- and P-di-hydroergocryptine mesilates. It has been used for its supposed therapeutic effects on mood depression, confusion, and lack of self-care in the elderly, and purportedly acts by improving cerebral blood flow. The basis of these indications has been reviewed and has not been fully validated (1)(2)(3). [Pg.883]

Dihydroergotoxine, a mixture of dihydro-K-ergocryptine and three similar dihydrogenated peptide ergot alkaloids (ergoloid mesylates), has been promoted for many years for the relief of senility and more recently for the treatment of Alzheimer s dementia. There is no useful evidence that this drug has significant benefit. [Pg.366]
