UNS was established in 1974 by ASTM and SAE to reduce the conFusion involved in the labeling of commercial alloys. Metals have been placed into 15 groups, each of which is given a code letter. The specific alloy is identified by a five-digit number following this code letter. 

Enter the 9-digit number assigned by Dun and Bradstreet (D B) for your facility or each establishment within your facility. These numbers code the facility for financial purposes. This number may be available from your facility s treasurer or financial officer. You can also obtain the numbers from your local Dun and Bradstreet office (check the telephone book White Paoest. If none of your establishments has been assigned a D B number, enter not applicable, NA, in box a. The EPA I.D. Number is a 12-digit number assigned to facilities covered by hazardous waste regulations under the Resource Conservation and Recovery Act (RCRA). Facilities not covered by RCRA are not likely to have an assigned I.D. Number. If your facility is not required to have an I.D. Number, enter not applicable. NA, in box a. United Nations/North American Identification Number(s) UN/NA identification numbers are four-digit numbers assigned to identify and cross-reference a hazardous materials (i.e., nitric acid, fuming = 2032 butane = 1011 white phosphorus, dry = 1381). 

A study using 50 rats of each sex in each of five groups (two controls and three increasing doses) measured body weight and food and liquid consumption every week or month for two years. This resulted in 3 variables x 2 sexes x 5 groups x 53 times x 50 animals. Means alone constituted some 1600 four-digit numbers. 

The DEA number is a unique character code which can be easily verified in most cases. The first two of the nine characters are alphabets. The first alphabet is either an A or B, or alternatively, a P or R the letters A and B designate a dispenser, while the letters P or R refer to a distributor. The second alphabet is derived from the first letter of the registrant s last name or his/ her business name. These two alphabets cannot always be verified. The third to ninth positions from left represent a seven digit number which can be verified. To understand the procedure, an example of DEA AB 0494168 verification is provided here. 

Each enzyme has been given a four-digit number by the Enzyme Commission of the International Union of Biochemistry. The first three digits relate to the reaction catalysed by the enzyme and the final one is required if several enzymes with different protein structures catalyse the same reaction.
