Diffusion-controlled reaction program

If ionization is neither fast nor slow, one has to solve numerically Eq. (3.290) together with the supplementary Eqs. (3.291) and (3.292) and use the result in Eq. (3.289). In Ref. 24 the numerical procedure based on the expanded DCR (diffusion-controlled reaction) program [182] was used to evaluate P t). From the simultaneously calculated initial distribution the root-mean-square interion distance was found ... [Pg.220]

Even in the simple case where only two components are present, many reactions may take place. It is our unhappy experience that taught us that in this realm of fast diffusion-controlled reactions no reaction can a priori be ignored or assumed to be too slow to affect the observed signals. To avoid such negligence, we employ a computer program that produces a numerical solution to the differential rate equations pertinent to the reaction system. This program reconstructs the time-dependent variable and allows to match the measured values with the computed ones. By systematic varying of the various rate constants of the partial reactions, the computed curve can be shaped to superimpose the experimental results to the satisfaction of the experimentalist (or the referee). [Pg.44]

The same steps as discussed above for the case of isotope exchange (diffusion in liquid film, surface reaction, intraparticle diffusion) were considered in a kinetic model [771] of metal ion adsorption from solution. This model was presented in a book with diskettes (FORTRAN program, rate controlled by reaction, by transport or mixed control). [Pg.537]
