Differential Scanning Calorimetric Studies

The melting temperature, crystallization temperature, glass transition temperature and degree of crystallinity (% ) can be characterized by differential [Pg.276]

The clay platelets, compatibilizer, and the type of compatibilizer significantly affect the melting and crystallization temperatures [15,21,28,58]. [Pg.278]

The crystallization temperature is increased to a greater extent when clay platelets are incorporated in PP. The compatibilizer also alters the crystallization temperature. PP-g-MA as compatibilizer leads to better [Pg.279]

To some extent the presence of compatibilizers has also decreased the crystallization temperature [15]. It indicates the inhibition of the crystallization by the addition of compatibilized clay platelets. The presence of compatibilizers in the layer spacing during intercalation may reduce the nucleation efficiency. The shielding effect of compatibilizers over the surface of the clay will avoid the direct contact. [Pg.280]

Both thermogravimetric analysis and differential scanning calorimetric studies were carried out on modified and unmodified PPO samples. Table IV presents the weight losses and the glass transition temperatures of the most representative polymers. [Pg.51]

The dielectric relaxation of bulk mixtures of poly(2jS-di-methylphenylene oxide) and atactic polystyrene has been measured as a function of sample composition, frequency, and temperature. The results are compared with earlier dynamic mechanical and (differential scanning) calorimetric studies of the same samples. It is concluded that the polymers are miscible but probably not at a segmental level. A detailed analysis suggests that the particular samples investigated may be considered in terms of a continuous phase-dispersed phase concept, in which the former is a PS-rich and the latter a PPO-rich material, except for the sample containing 75% PPO-25% PS in which the converse is postulated. [Pg.42]

Differential scanning calorimetric studies have shown that Nafion contains at least three types of water—one tightly bound to the ions, one weakly bound in the secondary hydration shell to the ion or another component of the fluorocarbon polymer (e.g., to the ether oxygens), and one free from strong interactions with ions or polymer chains. Thus, the K" " form of Nafion contains 3.8 water molecules per fixed ionic group in the primary hydration shell, 0.15 molecules as loosely bound water, and 3.8 water molecules as free water per each ionic group [49]. [Pg.312]

A differential scanning calorimetric study (unpublished) shows that ASG eliminates the phase transition of dipalmitoylphosphatidylcholine (DPPC) just as well, and at the same molar proportion, as cholesterol. SG affects the phase transition by broadening rather than eliminating it. [Pg.529]
