Diesel engines objective

The objective of these studies therefore is to assure the continued operation of existing diesel engines, particularly those used in crop irrigation, by converting them to dual-fuel engines with minimum modifications and using producer gas as supplementary fuel. It includes the design of a simple gas producer that can be fabricated inexpensively. 

A selection of tests for heavy duty diesel engines showing the characteristic objective, or set of objectives, for each test, is specified in Table 17.3. The detailed procedure specification for each test is given on their individual web sites and in the appropriate tables for API, given in Section 17.2, ACEA, in Section 17.3 and ILSAC in Section 17.4, where appropriate. 

In this paper we concentrate upon fuel characteristics giving particular attention to the aromatic fraction of fuels used in gasoline and diesel engines. A principal objective is to find, if possible, which type of aromatic could be excluded or added in order to lower PAH emissions and consequentely reduce carcinogenicity while maintaining the beneficial properties of such aromatics. To accomplish this objective we will deal separately with the major motive power engines namely, gasoline and diesel.

The objective of this task is to expose various structural ceramics to conditions found in smail diesei engines, Commercially available ceramics, as well as new candidate monolithic and whisker-toughened ceramics, will be fabricated Into small MOR bars, nondestructively examined, and exposed to a variety of operating conditions within small diesel engines. Subsequent to exposure, the bars will be nondestructively and destructively examined and the results compared to an unexposed data base. 

The testing objects include two similar diesel engines D243, Belarus-made. One used market diesel, the other used biodiesel B5. These engines are usually used on tractors and fishing boats specifications of the test engines are shown in Table 23.9. 

Internal-combustion engines range in size from small portable gasoline engines to over 14,914 kW (20,000 hp) diesels for ship propulsion. They are usuaUy designed for particular industrial applications and to meet specific objectives as to weight per horsepower, reliabihty, and operating conditions.
